no fret is a welcoming café tucked just a few steps from Whitley Bay’s beach, making it a natural pit stop after a seaside stroll. Its location on S Parade means you can easily pop in for a coffee and something to eat either before or after exploring the promenade.

The atmosphere feels comfortably community-oriented, with staff who quickly strike up a friendly rapport, making the space feel familiar even if you’re visiting for the first time. There’s a mix of locals who come in for their morning brew, as well as families and walkers looking for a relaxing break. With a toasty fire warming the interior at cooler times, it turns into a snug spot for colder mornings.

Coffee here appears thoughtfully sourced, featuring local blends that offer a few different options beyond the standard espresso. Alongside the drinks, the café serves homemade cakes and light bites that lean towards simple but well-prepared – from cheese scones and fruit cakes to more filling choices like burritos and Welsh rarebit. The offerings strike a good balance between comfort food and casual treats, all reasonably priced, which likely explains the steady local support.

Ordering is done via touchscreen kiosks inside, allowing for a contemporary flow where food and drinks are delivered to your table. Some enjoy the efficiency this brings, though others miss the direct interaction of ordering at the counter, which can affect the cozy café vibe a little. Staff remain approachable and helpful in navigating the technology, so the system doesn’t feel impersonal.

In summary, no fret suits anyone looking for a laid-back café experience by the coast — especially after fresh air and exercise. It’s a spot where the community crosses paths over good coffee and homemade snacks, with a relaxed rhythm that fits Whitley Bay’s neighborhood pace. Mornings and early afternoons are prime times to visit, especially when the weather nudges people indoors to linger by the fire.

A lovely little quirky cafe situated across the road from the beach perfect to visit after a nice walk! After our walk we decided to pop in for a coffee, some cake and some food. Food is very reasonably priced £1-10, we had the burrito and Welsh rarebit both of which were delicious. Cakes are home made and very impressive. Coffee selection was great and used local blends. Staff were very friendly and prompt service. Definitely somewhere to pop in for an afternoon brew and food.

A proper community based coffee shop. Staff feel like family and they make everyone feel welcome. Great coffee! There are always a couple of options which is a bonus. You can order on the screens and have your order delivered to your table, which can make things easier and faster. However, I do miss the human interaction element of ordering by doing this, so not really my favourite method.

Love this place. Delicious coffee and lovely staff. Toasty fire perfect for the mornings that are rapidly becoming chillier! The computer ordering put me off a little bit at first, I prefer old fashioned, but it’s pretty intuitive and you can always ask the lovely staff for help.

We visited as a family today. I ordered a brownie and a chocolate milkshake. My husband ordered a latte and a flapjack. Our eldest son ordered a biscoff milkshake and a piece of Victoria Sponge cake. Our youngest son had a packet of crisps and a juice carton. You order on a touch screen kiosk and pay there too. Then the waiter/waitress bring your order to your table. The staff were really helpful, friendly and attentive. There is seating indoors and outdoors and dogs are welcome. Our order arrived quickly and everything was delicious. The food was gorgeous...definitely the best brownie I've ever had and my husband said his flapjack was "bloody lovely".....compliments indeed! Milkshakes were amazing too! At the back of the cafe there is loads of seating and games, books and toys for kids. Great location, beautiful decor (toilets were lovely too) and fantastic food and drinks. We will definitely be back!

This cafe serves delicious food at very reasonable prices. The cakes are particularly good. Easy to drop in from the beach in Whitely Bay. Very welcoming for children - lots of games and books to keep them occupied.

For exceptional coffee, look no further than here. Beautiful coffee from Unorthodox Roasters. Guest blends available. A chilled, relaxed and welcoming vibe, providing a comfy workspace or a chilled read on the sofa! A real gem in Whitley Bay. Special mention to the chilli and chorizo burrito, absolutely wonderful with a Two by Two pilsner. Cannot recommend this place more highly.
